Yves Sainsiné

Yves Sainsiné, known as Saint-Cyr, is a sociologist. After earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the State University of Haiti, he moved to Belgium, specifically to the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL), to pursue his master’s and doctoral studies. He holds a Ph.D. in social sciences (specializing in development, population, and environment) and an interdisciplinary, inter-university master’s degree in development, environment, and societies. From 2009 to 2011, he conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Montreal. At that time, he was affiliated with the Centre for Research on Policy and Social Development (CPDS).

He has been a professor at the State University of Haiti (since 2002) and at St. Paul University in Ottawa (since 2022). At the State University of Haiti, he teaches courses in sociology, methodology, and development theories. At St. Paul University, he teaches the following courses: Organizational Consolidation and Transformation, Starting a Social Organization, and Social Justice and Critical Thinking. He also frequently works as a consultant for the Haitian government and, on a volunteer basis from time to time, assists individuals or groups in establishing, structuring, strengthening, or launching social organizations in Haiti and Canada.

Her current research focuses on the following themes: Governance, Social Development, Environment and Development, Social Entrepreneurship, Gender and Development, Women’s Empowerment, Sustainable Development, and the Fight Against Climate Change.
